Searching Tips

 

USING ADOBE ACROBAT READER:

 

An alternate version of this on-line book is formatted in Adobe Acrobat PDF. You can download our file and read it with Acrobat Reader Version 5, which has a word-find tool. This will give you great researching capability. You may obtain Acrobat Reader as a free download from Adobe's site. Be sure to get version 5 - it far superior to version 4.

 

First - download the PDF version of the file to your computer and store it where you can find it. Don't ask how to do this as we are not computer savy, only Frost savy. We have no idea how your computer file system is set up and we don't want to know!

 

Second - After you have installed Acrobat Reader V. 5 and have our file on hand, bring up the Acrobat Reader program. Click File > Open and navigate to where you have stored the download from our site. Open the file and read! To search for a word click the icon for the find tool (the little binoculars) and enter the word to search for, then hit "find." The document will scroll down to the first usage of that word. Now, that word may appear again, so click "find again." See the tables below for likely word searches.

What to search for

 

Robert Frost on writing contains extensive material on the important elements of Frost's style and poetics. It is all about how Frost writes, ie on writing. Although several poems are used as examples, this is not a book of critical analysis of the poems. Even so, there are some interesting tid-bits on the poems cited in this work. The table indicates likely search words in this book. You might want to print this out for handy reference.
